Study Trip Reflection

Reflection

This trip to Japan will probably be the most memorable memory of my uni life (erm...ok, I'm only in my first year now). It is really my first time travelling without parents, siblings, and friends. The day before departure, I suddenly felt nervous. For the first time, I left my parents and followed strangers to a strange city.

Through this journey, I seem to know a new self. With no family or friends around, I found that I could actually do things I wouldn't have done before, for example, take a flight by myself, without relying on anyone. This may be very easy in the eyes of many people, but who hasn't done it for the first time right. Another example, spend money! In the first few days in Japan, I had a really poor concept of money. I didn’t know whether that thing was worth buying. I was afraid that I would spend too much money and have no money for the next few days.

Following the team, we visited many art galleries. Since I'm a slow watcher, I watch it separately from my friends. I slowly appreciate every work in the exhibition by myself, I like it very very much! I love seeing the details of each painting and reading each author's thoughts. Seeing the exhibition is for me to feel, but for some friends who are not interested and drag me away, it seems that they just see it and leave, I feel so sad.

I have to say that the streets of Japan are really clean and beautiful (but in mycube there's a lot of dust flying in the air and makes me feel itchy and uncomfortable). Every alley is like the picture in the drama. One thing I have to shout about, there are no trash bins on the roads in Japan!!! Although it is true that sometimes it is necessary to throw out the garbage, because there is no trash bin, there is no bad smell on the street.

My group is doing a topic about Japanese Calligraphy, so we can actually collect the data from everywhere. We took many pictures on the streets, sign boards, packaging, brochures and etc. We visited a Calligraphy museum with group members too. But on the way we walked to the museum, we found a beautiful temple and we visited. It's such a coincidence that this attraction played a very important role in our project, we got omikuji and some talismans in this temple and this become our final project direction. I like this random, there are so many unknowns hidden in the journey, COOL~

Although I didn't see Mount Fuji or go to Disneyland during this trip to Tokyo, it was still very fruitful. I gained knowledge, experience, friendship and my first snow! This is not a study trip! This is a holiday trip! This Japan trip inspired me to explore more worlds beyond my comfort zone. I will travel around the world when I earn more money!
